How the 10 were chosen
I did not pick favourites. On 1 October 2026 I searched Google for “personal injury lawyer laurens sc”, and the next day I asked ChatGPT the same question. These are the 10 law firms whose own websites appeared in either one. They are South Carolina injury firms, large and small, so this is one town’s page one and not the whole country.
Each home page went through two checks on 5 October 2026: my website grader, which looks at what a visitor meets, and my AEO checker, which looks at what an AI assistant can read. Both start at 100 and take points off for each problem. The rank is the average of the two.
The ranking
Checked 5 October 2026. A check reads one page with fixed rules. It can miss something a person would see, and a site can change the next day. The scores describe the page, not the firm or its lawyers.
What page one has in common
- 1 of 10 say what the firm does and where in the main headline.
- 9 of 10 have a phone number you can tap to call.
- 1 of 10 have a contact form of five fields or fewer on the home page.
- 9 of 10 write the firm’s details into the page code for search engines and AI.
- 3 of 10 answer at least two questions in their headings.
- 10 of 10 let all six AI crawlers in.
Two things stand out. 10 of 10 let AI crawlers read the site, and 9 of 10 write the firm’s details into the page code. That is the groundwork an assistant needs before it can name a firm.
The weak spot is the first screen. Only 1 of 10 name both the work and the place in the main headline, and 7 of 10 ask for more than five things on a form. A new firm can do better on both from its first day.
